Josh Ritter is from Moscow, Idaho. The son of two neuroscientists, he was on his way to follow in their footsteps when he discovered Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan's "Girl from theNorth Country" in high school. "Hearing that record was like meeting the person you're going to marry," Josh says. Now, at age 31, he was recently named one of the 100 greatest living songwriters by Paste Magazine, alongside Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, and Neil Young. In his latest release, The Historical Conquests of Josh Ritter, theIdaho musician references legendary heroines as each is pushed toward some extraordinary mission, both noble and a little foolhardy.
We're proud to say that Josh's recent concert with CLIF BAR GreenNotes at Yosemite National Park for the Yosemite Facelift volunteer event was the first amplified concert in the park's history. Through the program he's spreading the message to promote ways fans can also protect the places we all play.
